Welcoming Distinguished Humphrey Fellows from the Governments of Bangladesh and Maharashtra

Pittsburgh, PA - On October 1st, Women In Tech PGH (WITPGH) to welcomed the Distinguished Humphrey Fellows for a thought-provoking discussion on how emerging technologies can support sustainable economic initiatives and drive workforce development. This event aligned with the expanding mission to provide strategic support and tailored programming for global leaders, social impact organizations, and economic initiatives and WITPGH’s founding mission to transform workforce strategies and professional development models to support individual growth and organizational success.

The discussion focused on how technology can serve as a bridge between education and workforce alignment, digital governance and transparency, and inclusive policymaking. The discussion also explored ways to overcome infrastructure and governance challenges by using community-driven solutions to ensure trust and sustainability.

International delegate participants included experts Mr. Md.Bhikharuddoula Chowdhury, Director of Planning and Development for the Bangladesh Bridge Authority, who has a 20-year career in government service and played a key role in the environmental management of the $3.6 billion Padma Bridge project, which connected 21 districts to the capital by road and railroad; and Ms. Vijayalakshmi Bidari, Divisional Commissioner for Nagpur, Maharashtra, India, who oversees six districts, including regions affected by extremism, and is passionate about using technology to improve governance and citizens' quality of life.

The Distinguished Humphrey Fellows Program, sponsored by the U.S. Department of State, offers executive-level training and networking for senior professionals through a short-term, invitation-only Fulbright exchange. Participants work on critical global issues, developing policies and programs that impact their countries and align with U.S. engagement with the developing world. This program is facilitated locally by GlobalPittsburgh. This event provided a unique opportunity for these leaders to share their insights to shape frameworks that advanced economic resilience.
