Our Exploratory Workshops are uniquely designed to provide attendees with engaging, dynamic learning experiences that go beyond traditional professional development. Research

Existing workforce development programs often rely on outdated information, failing to address the current needs and challenges of the workforce, such as adapting to emerging technologies or evolving industry demands. This gap is not just a research issue; it's a matter of economic equity and social justice. To bridge this gap, our organization focuses on the integration of community-centered research methods that are tailored to support holistic professional and workforce development into our programs and services. By leveraging our grassroots position, we can tap into the pulse of the community, gaining real-time insights into the challenges and trends affecting them.

PAST EVENTS

  • Come As You Are: Project Manager Cocktail Hour

    This private event was designed and facilitated by WITPGH for the women in our Project Management cohort. The event included a networking hour with hors devours, a professional photographer for headshots and speaking photos, a guided conversation around the topics of navigating identity in the workplace and taking risks, and presentations by each of the scholars.

  • DIY Robots

    DIY Robots was a program designed in collaboration with Assemble | A Community Space For Arts + Technology to offer an exploratory introduction into the world of hardware for women. This event created conversation around real world applications of robotics and automation to solve marketplace needs and allowed guests to gain hands on experiences building something of their own to take home. This programming was supported by the Build Back Better grant.

  • END OF SUMMER SOIREE

    Our signature networking event to celebrate the end of summer is a city favorite welcoming attendees from all over the country. With local artists curating the entertainment for the night and fresh bites from Pittsburgh restaurants, it’s a reminder to be grateful for our city’s community.

  • Automate Your Life: GenAI Workshop

    This exploratory workshop featured expert speaker and WITPGH board member Nicole Young who facilitated a learning sessions and discussions around understanding and implementing Generative AI and ChatGPT into your personal and professional life.

    Our signature anniversary networking event is always full of joy, celebrating milestones of our community and the members of our programs. Typically held on rooftops overlooking the city, we aim to create an environment where people can gather to connect, let go, and enjoy delicious food.

  • Rooftop Yoga: Desk Detox

    With a prioritization on wellbeing, we held several rooftop yoga events to focus on correcting painpoints resulting from sedentary desk and computer use. The launch of this event series also served as one of Pittsburgh’s first non-alcoholic networking opportuni ies- where attendees mingled with health shots provided by Reed&Co.

  • Workshop: Social Media For Career Building

    This workshop taught attendees how to use Instagram to develop your professional brand, find speaking and scholarship opportunities, identify potential career paths, and grow your community and network. This workshop was designed and facilitated by WITPGH President and CEO Alison Falk.
