Our Story

Women In Tech PGH (WITPGH) is transforming professional development solutions to be sustainable and adaptive for today's contemporary tech workforce. We prioritize supporting individuals from nontraditional backgrounds and underrepresented communities, merging lived-experience with forward-thinking practices. The organization sets itself apart by weaving mindset, purpose, wellbeing, cultural competency, representation, and evidence-based strategies into its foundational frameworks, treating equity as a fundamental guiding ethos rather than a secondary objective.

Alison Falk
President and CEO

“I founded WITPGH initially because I was inspired to build what I wanted to see in the world.”

Alison is a social impact executive bringing over eight years of leadership and technology experience that skillfully blends startup agility with corporate acumen. Her entrepreneurial journey led to founding Women In Tech PGH in 2017, addressing overlooked needs in networking, training, and career advancement for women, driven by her own industry and bootcamp experiences.

Her ultimate goal is to shift the paradigm of how we approach professional development, making it more balanced and human-centered. She believes that by moving with purpose, we can redefine the “move fast, break things” tech culture and be deliberate about what it means to center equity in our research, development, and decision making processes to create sustainable pathways for people and communities in technology spaces.

Recognized with awards including Uber ATG’s Who’s Next In Technology, the RedChair Leadership Award for women in IT, and the (ISC)² Cyber Safety and Education award, Alison is also an esteemed Upswell Fellow. She has been invited to speak at prominent venues such as Google, CISCO, and SXSW, sharing her insights and contributing to the dialogue on technology and emerging trends. She is also the Chief Strategist at Product Garden Consulting where she guides social impact and community-centered organizations to create meaningful products and services.

Her insights have been featured in WIRED, NY Post, and the Business Times, showcasing her as a leading voice in technology and social change.
