PROJECT MANAGER SCHOLARSHIP

In collaboration with Women in Tech PGH (WITPGH), PAWomenWork and RedChairPGH, the PPG Foundation is sponsoring a pilot program for a comprehensive, multi-faceted workforce re-entry program to improve the lives of four Pittsburgh-area women of color through technology career skills development, mentoring, and employment.

What:

The scholarship program is designed for women who are interested in developing their project management skills and preparing themselves for the job market. The program offers a comprehensive training curriculum that covers various aspects of project management, including project planning, budgeting, risk management, and team management. Participants will also receive career development support, including resume building, job search strategies, interview preparation, and 1:1 mentorship.

For Who:
Women of color in the Pittsburgh area.

When:
The program begins June 1, 2023 and completes March 30, 2024.

Where:
The majority of the cohort is virtual and will have some in-person events for networking and skillbuilding.

Features of the 10 month program  include:

  • A 6 month self-paced online study course resulting in the Google  Project Management Certification

  • A stipend upon completion of key program milestones

  • Lunch and Learn sessions with industry experts

  • Multi-faceted pre- and post-employment support

    • Connect with a panel of employers

    • Workshops in Goal-setting, Resume writing, Interviewing, Online job searching, Negotiation and Time Management

    • Introductions to Pittsburgh-area employers

    • One-on-one mentoring sessions

Applications open April 10th and close May 10th!

Selection Process:

The Selection and Interview process will run from May 10 – May 30, 2023 as follows:
1. An initial phone call to gauge understanding, commitment, and answer any questions.
2. A group Interview with 2-3 people.
3. A final screening interview for the short list of candidates.

All scholarship applicants will be notified by May 30.  

A celebratory kick-off with PPG will be held on June 1 at Carnegie Mellon University.
